PNR Number Location

PNR means Passenger Name Record. It is a travel record of a single person or group of person that is stored in Railway computerized reservation system. Every time a person goes for rail ticketing for a train journey he receives this ten digit number that is written on the top left corner of his rail ticket. He can find the current position of reservation using this. By using this tool he can discover the position - confirmed, waiting or in RAC. It also helps in finding information about Train Number, Train Name, Date (Journey Date), From (Journey Start Station), To (Journey Destination Station), Reserved up to, Boarding Point, Class (Sleeper Class, 2AC, 3AC etc) and Boarding Status (Confirmed, Waiting or RAC).
PNR status can be checked either at the website irctc.co.in or by calling or sending an SMS to 139. A passenger can check his PNR status by calling or sending an SMS to 139 from his mobile phone or landlines phone. A passenger needs to call 139 and follow the directions to get status updates on his PNR number. The passenger can also send an SMS to 139 by prefixing the ten digit PNR number with “PNR” and he will get the status updates through an SMS.
Alternatively he can also check it on irctc.co.in. The passenger can open the website of IRCTC and go to the PNR inquiry page. There will be a box where the passenger needs to enter his ten digit unique PNR number and at just a single click the information about the current status of the ticket will be available to the passenger. At a single click the user can check the status of their ticket as there is continuous updating on tickets as people with confirmed tickets cancel their ticket which makes those with unconfirmed tickets have a chance of getting their tickets confirmed.
